
John Wesley Hanson (1823-1901)
J. W. Hanson was a Universalist minister and historian. Born in Boston, in 1845 he became a minister in Wentworth, New Hampshire. In the 1870s he was pastor of St. Paul’s Universalist Church, Glasgow, Scotland. Later he was the minister of the Universalist New Covenant Church of Chicago.
Hanson published his own translation of the New Testament, Hanson’s Edited New Testament (1885). He is best known for his many writings defending universal salvation.
